Since 2004, Asian Center for Missions graduate Alex* has been helping homeless children in Nepal. He serves as one of the volunteers in an orphanage which offers refuge, counseling and emergency care to kids working and living in the streets.

The association that Alex works for daily cares for more than 300 kids through nine centers and four complementary programs designed to fit the needs of the most destitute children living and working in busy streets.

Alex’s recent task is to assist in administering first aid to kids who need medical treatment.

“Most of the kids I minister to were abused physically, verbally, and even sexually,” he said.

Despite working for a secular nongovernment organization, Alex makes sure he prays for the kids’ healing. One of the children he prayed for got healed from his kidney problem.

“His medical examination showed negative results after months of praying,” he reported.

With his new task, Alex can now spend more time with the children in the center. He praises God for the opportunity to share Christ’s love through giving quality attention to the kids, doing acts of service, and sharing words of affirmation to them.

One orphan now leads other kids in singing and praying. They would sing “Aaja ko din” (This is the Day) after every activity in the center. Alex taught him how to pray and sing this song.

“My prayer is that God will continue to use me as His instrument to extend His love and care to our brothers and sisters,” Alex said.

In his five wonderful years in the mission field, Alex is grateful and rejoices with the Lord over what He has done in him and through him.

“So much has happened,” he said, “but the biggest thing that I have seen and heard is God’s faithfulness. He has proven over and over that He is more faithful to meet all my needs and to take good care of His people.”

Alex claims he made the best decision of his life when he chose to follow and serve the Lord. He looks forward to what God has planned for him in the future.
