The
10/40 Window
From 10 degrees north to 40 degrees north of the equator is
a rectangular-shaped window known among mission circles as the
10/40 Window. It includes 59 countries including sovereign states
and non-sovereign dependencies. Two-thirds of the world's people
live here. Missions efforts are being concentrated on this part
of the globe because 37 of the 50 least evangelized countries
in the world are located here. That makes up 97% of the population
coming from the least evangelized nations.
The Window
is also known as the "Resistant Belt" because it
is where three of the world's dominant religious blocs-Islam,
Hinduism and Buddhism-are found. Therefore, a lot of Satan's
strongholds are also found here. Of the poorest of the poor,
82% live in the Window--that's about 2.4 billion people. Sadly,
only 8% of all missionaries work there.
If believers are to be fully dedicated to Christ's mandate
of preaching the Gospel to all the nations, to make disciples
of all people and to be His witnesses to the uttermost part
of the earth, then the 10/40 Window is clearly a priority
spot.
Pray for
the salvation of people in the 10/40 Window and for the missionaries
that minister there. Give to support missions in the 10/40
Window. Go and preach Christ's liberating message of salvation
to the nations in this region.
